EFCC Arraigns Female Banker for N452m Scam in Onitsha

The Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC, today March 16, 2022, arraigned one Judith Nneka Nwagwu, a staff of the United Bank for Africa, before Justice D.A Onyefulu of the Anambra State High Court sitting in Onitsha on a  seven count charge bordering on forgery and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N452,047,000. Judith is alleged to have fraudulently obtained N192,000,000 (One Hundred and Ninety Million Naira) from a complainant whom she was his account officer, on the pretext that the bank had $400,000 for sale at the rate of N480 per Dollar. He employers also petitioned the Commission alleging that the defendant forged two fixed deposit certificates and fraudulently obtained the total sum of N260,047.000 ( Two Hundred and Sixty Million, Forty-Seven Thousand naira)Million from a customer under the guise of fixing the money for him.

  The United States of America is now considering supplying air defense systems to NATO allies. This is due to the constant threat and growing worry coming from Russia as the war in Ukraine rages on. A US official told CNN that his country is now considering supplying critical air defense systems to NATO allies in eastern Europe. There are anxieties that Russia could consider launching missiles or aircraft against the alliance’s eastern flank. “The US is considering a range of capabilities,” the official said, according to CNN. The official said there is no specific plan yet to carry this out, but added that the idea centers around the concern that Russian missiles or aircraft might deliberately attack targets inside NATO territory at some point. BRT bus driver arrested following death of kidnapped Lagos lady.

JUST IN: BRT bus driver arrested following death of kidnapped Lagos lady Bamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old lady, who was declared missing last week after boarding a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle from the Ajah area of Lagos to Oshodi, has been found dead. A relative of the victim confirmed the development on Monday afternoon. “We are at the morgue. We have confirmed the corpse. An autopsy will be carried out to confirm if any part of her body is missing,” he said. The young lady went missing on February 26 after she boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 heading to Oshodi at about 7:30 pm to see her sister-in-law, who was said to be in labour. The fashion designer was said to have become suspicious when the driver of the bus told her to sit at the back despite being the only one in the vehicle. DCP Kyari pleads not guilty to drug charges but co-defendants plead guilty Suspended deputy commissioner (DCP) of police, Abba Kyari, and four other defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them by the NDLEA. Kyari and six others were this morning arraigned before the NDLEA at a Federal high court in Abuja. They are accused of obstruction and dealing in cocaine worth 17.55 kilograms. The other defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022 include Sunday J Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba, and John Nuhu. The three defendants are members of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Others are Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne, two alleged drug traffickers who were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
